About Carrie Skinner
Carrie Viscome Skinner was born in Fulton NY in 1952 and now resides in Wolcott NY with her Husband of 30+ years. Though Carrie studied art through college and museum courses she considers herself mostly a self taught artist. She began her art career in the 1960's painting and selling portraits in acrylics, watercolors and pastels. She has also worked with various other media including silk screen printing, clay, wood and stone sculpting, fiber arts, and jewelry making. She is also a published poet and a lover of all things nature and holds a diploma in Environmental Conservation. The converging of art and nature is what led her to the faerie/fantasy art genre. Most of her images depict what she calls "the nature of nature spirits and faeries" posing in nature or going about the business of caring for the earth.
After taking time off from pursuing her art career to raise a family she is now back working full time doing what she loves most, creating art.
She sells her work at local shops and arts and craft fairs and also makes and sells faerie homes, wings and other faerie things through her company Faerie Earth Art.

When asked what she most wishes to convey through her art Carrie will say:
My first love has always been the wildness of nature closely followed by my need to create. I had always searched for a way to combine these two but could never quite mix them in a satisfying way until the world of faerie showed itself to me. I discovered that this hidden world was what was missing in both my art and environmentalism. It is my deepest wish to convey to others the spirits that lie at the heart of nature. I believe that if I can help others to see them as living beings with personalities, feelings and even faces that maybe we will all begin to realize that we are not alone on this planet, that all of the wild things that surround us are alive and real. My hope is that my art will give inspiration for us to all take better care of this place we call Earth, home to all of us, human, faerie and all of nature.
